Satellaview Thread

Hi, using the international forum here as an outlet.
I'm Kiddo, and I basically handle the updates on Satellablog, a blog where I post about findings done in researching the Satellaview, a Super Famicom hardware add-on.
http://superfamicom.org/blog/
I've decided to make this thread here to see if I can spark some good discussion on subjects such as finding archived Satellaview magazine articles, radio shows, and ROM dumps, or researching how the Satellaview servers operated and streamed the combination of contents. A few of the ROM dumps and bits of research on the site are already credited to folks on snesfreaks, so hopefully this encourages more discussion.
A few things going on since the last Satellablog post;
1) Nensondubois ripped music from the "Goods Press" ROMs and posted them on the snesmusic forums.
2) BS Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets ROM hacks were updated.
3) 8M Pack dump dry spell.

4) Goofing off in nocash's BS-X server brings interesting results.
5) Luigiblood releases SatellaWave, designed for use for bsnes-sx2.
6) Madhatter gets more magazine scans, one of which features an ad which notes a "Specially planned" broadcast related to Super Nazo Puyo, Chrono Trigger, and... Seiken Densetsu 3... The possibility of this being a ROM to find is highly interesting.
^ All these may be posted on the blog when I'm not busy making posts around other places. ^^;
Anyone willing to help here can contribute.
(Feel free to machine-translate this and have it go around a tad.)

I followed your blog for a long time, amazing work!
In the last year my fascination for the Satellaview system brought up some romreleases and a big article in the german mag "Retromagazin". And some good and personal contact to you.
Keep up the good work and lets spread the word about this somewhat obscure Super Famicom supply. Some of the exclusive games really help the satellaview to be important in the big world of video games, so we have always hope for interest from the community.

Really great topic. It seems that the Satellaview is still a very interesting hardware that reveales a lot of its features step by step now... almost 20 years after the release. Really amazing to see what great games were released for this almost forgotten piece of hardware.

Well, i used to follow your blog for a long while, and still am now, it's still impressive to me, how you get Satellaview news stuff and ROMs...
To think everything about BS-X Project happened because i wanted to make an homebrew that works on BS-X...
I think the Satellaview can be used for much more, and i want to be able to use all this.
About SatellaWave... The Lite version is out, but the normal version will not come for a while... ^^'

I picked up a loose copy of the SD Gundam G-NEXT Unit & Map Collection addon-cartridge.
Is it rare or just garbage? Because I never saw it on eBay so far... Time for me to get the actual game itself ^^"

Unit & Map Collection is one of the few pre-content packed 8M Packs that sold at retail, IIRC. I do not know it's actual rarity but I don't normally see it in shops, for sure.
Because emulators haven't gotten around to doing Data Pack support for SD Gundam G-Next I have not been able to take a look at any SD Gundam Data Pack datas.

I will test it in the future, maybe I give you a short text and some photomaterial about it.
I hope the language barrier is not too high and the ingame-changes obvious.

Hey folks, just giving an update to let everyone know I've been testing sd2snes's Satellaview game support.
I've add a buncha "issues" pertaining to their compatibility already.

Got something to share, if somebody wants to use it please don't forget to give credit.
The two retail Satellaview MC boxes front and back including a scan of the stickers and the manual of the flash cartridge.
I'll think about a scan of the Gundam manual.

I found a probably undumped magazine on my 8m pack from Tokyo. There are too much Kanji I cant read yet, but its from 1999 and the picture on the top of the screen says "History of the Town" in Romanji and it has only 3 pages (with one page being the cover). There are about 60 small notes after a number on each of the two text-pages.
I will send it to ikari soon.

Interesting! A while back I purchased a "Famimaga Daisakusen" Magazine, myself. So we should at least have a couple of magazines incoming in the future.
