Unreleased SNES games

Beitrag von Evan_G » 28. Februar 2012, 13:01

Cross posting from the SNES Central forum:

Today, I have made an update to the unreleased games section, giving the main page a much more informative layout.

http://www.snescentral.com/unreleased.php

I'm putting a bit more of a push to try and find more binaries of unreleased games. Unfortunately, I imagine most are now long gone, and I should have started to do this years ago. If anyone has any leads on binaries for these games, let me know!

Nintendo Player has a nice article on the unreleased game, Steven Seagal is the Final Option.

First I must say that Steven Seagal is a good actor, although the most people think that he is a bad actor :D. When i see the screenshots of this unreleased game, i think also that this is a pity :pfeif:.

Those screenshots remind me of mortal kombat, somehow. Could it possibly be the same engine?

Definitely not, as mentioned in the article, this game was in the planning stages just as Mortal Kombat came out. We must not forget that Out of this World came out long before Mortal Kombat, and really started the whole digitized graphics revolution.

Sounds pretty expensive. I mean, I think the only time I paid $68+ for a SNES game (aside from the competition carts) was Chrono Trigger, back in 1997! Plus you have to wait a whole year for a game we all know is pretty much complete.

I just did a big update of the list. Up to 165 titles! Also, I found a binary of an unreleased game that I was previously unaware of.

Considering this video the game looks like a real blockbuster :-o Steven is walking like a zombie, and the fights look really exciting. I am wondering why this game never was released...

Gameplay seems to... suck ass :D , but compared to the other crap like Last Action Hero or Cliffhanger the Steven Seagal-game truely deserved a release.

For a little update on your Killer Instinct 2 article:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011- ... -interview
We actually had Killer Instinct 2 in development for SNES. That was quite far along. There were more frames and it was looking decent. Obviously the Nintendo 64 then came along and we released Gold for the N64.
